On Saturday 8 July, the All Saints’ Fundraising Committee will be organising an event to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the death of Jane Austen, All Saints’ Church, Upper Clatford, near Andover.
There will be a talk by Jane Maxwell entitled Jane Austen: Hampshire's Most Famous Lady which will cover many of her family connections, and focuses on the days leading up to her death in Winchester supported by her family.
Following the interval, when refreshments will be served, the Hampshire Regency Dancers will re-create the atmosphere of the balls which Jane Austen attended in Hampshire and which featured so prominently in her novels.
To complement the event, there will be an art display of drawings of a Hampshire village in 1800 by local school children.
Tickets for the event are £10 (inclusive of refreshments) and can be reserved by emailing email@example.com.
All proceeds are in aid of All Saints’ Church, Upper Clatford and the Jane Austen Society.
