A panel discussion exploring the legacy of Jane Austen 200 years after her death.  Who is she, and what have we done with her?

The discussion is chaired by Louise West, co-curator for The Mysterious Miss Austen exhibition.  She has had a lifelong career in museums, working at the Jane Austen’s House Museum for 11 years, spending the final two in overall charge.  She now works as a consultant in museums and is a trustee at the Dickens Museum in London.

Professor Kathryn Sutherland co-curated this exhibition and is curator of ‘Which Jane Austen’ at the Weston Library, Bodleian Libraries in Oxford.  Kathryn is Professor of English Literature, University of Oxford and the author of several books on Jane Austen, including ‘Jane Austen’s Textual Lives: from Aeschylus to Bollywood’. She is the editor of the collection of essays entitled ‘Jane Austen: Writer in the World’ that accompanies both exhibitions.

Dr Paula Byrne is an acclaimed non-fiction author, novelist and reviewer.  Her latest work is ‘The Genius of Jane Austen: How she loved the theatre and why she is a hit in Hollywood’.
