Samira Ahmed celebrates the life and work of Jane Austen, ahead of next year's 200th anniversary of her death

2017 sees the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen's death, and the year that she will appear on the new £10 note. Samira Ahmed finds out how money dominates the novels, and visits her home at Chawton to see how much revenue Austen mania brings into her home town of Winchester.

Professor John Mullan and critic Viv Groskop choose the best and worst film and TV Austen adaptations and Samira discusses Sanditon, her last and unfinished novel with Emma Clery of Southampton University and playwright Simon Reade. Simon has adapted the manuscript for a major film which is currently in production and Emma's book Jane Austen - The Banker's Sister is published in May 2017. Read more here.
